About Our Outdoor Woodland Learning
Wildtrack Wilderness utilises outdoor learning to promote self-esteem, resilience, confidence and social skills. It raises natural world and environmental awareness, offers relaxation and develops self-worth. The ethos is to allow the learner to thrive and learn outdoors, away from the traditional classroom environment.
We are a team of highly skilled professionals in our respective fields including education, behaviour management, mental health and outdoor leadership training.
By consulting with clients before our outdoor woodland learning begins, we ensure all our learners succeed, achieve and enjoy the learning journey with us. From bush craft and our hunter-gatherer pre-history ancestors to the Romans or Vikings, our outdoor woodland learning leaders will ‘tailor make’ the learning experience for you.
We will achieve this either on-site as part of our Living History day or off-site in one of our beautiful woodland locations.
Wildtrack Wilderness works in partnership with the Lumley Estate and Wynyard Hall. These beautiful venues offer seclusion, tranquillity and peaceful surroundings in which our learners will enjoy nature as well as offering a safe and secure learning environment.

Director of Wild Track Wilderness
Having worked as a nature reserve warden and a parks and countryside ranger in a local authority. I studied for an HND in Arboriculture /woodland management and worked as an arborist for several years.
I have over 15 years’ experience in learning disabilities and has worked for a variety of mental health projects in the North East gaining Mental health practitioner status. After entering education, I studied qualifications in autism and SEN as well as gaining a counselling qualification.
Barry also taught in a school for young people with behavioural and mental health issues
Wildtrack Wilderness are a highly qualified level three forest and beach school leader as well as a Wild Passport certified trainer. Wildtrack wilderness supports many schools around the region as well as learners of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds to achieve their goals and increase their knowledge and confidence in the outdoors and environment
Wildtrack Wilderness are a passionate believer in the importance of natural learning and therapeutic interventions and positive risk taking in our education.
